Just a dull news flash from test to those who are wondering what's up over there.
Nothing...lots and lots and lots of nothing.
There are two toons alive and well in Test Town district. I am one of them. I think Bear Essentials is the other one. We've bumped into each other at the Brrrg fishing hole where we can continue to not catch rare species while watching the road blocks to Polar Place.
I do think that there are 3 or 4 of us with access. Skip, are you still on? We were on the server that remained operational and because we didn't leave, we didn't get the message that it's down. I'm a computer dummy, so I really can only guess how on earth we managed to stay on through this shut down. I have found that I can exit and change toons and so that is what I think is happening with the other 2 toons that are not showing up in the districts (current count is 2) but come on occasionally. When the count goes up, I tp over to the Brrrg to see if some devs have come to try out the new street. I honestly wouldn't mind playing with them and being there when they test it out.
The downside: it's very lonely. I have tasks to take down 5 story cashbot bldgs in ddl and I'm just not even gonna try to solo that one. How about a vp? I have the merits, but I lack the Bessies, unite tus, and LOMs to attempt it. I took tasks for number crunchers and bossbots and I've managed to complete those just fine and any other single cog tasks that I could find. The down side of this is that I have achieved several days of tasks, laff points, fishing, gifting from my lousy catalogue and fishing again...and like the last time I had a toon in this position and tt decided to reinstall everybody from a backup disk, I could very easily be back where I started from weeks ago and all of it would be lost. I'm not really motivated to play with that threat hovering over my head.
Another huge downside: Clover wishes that test wasn't occupying the good computer. The dood is swimming away at his test estate when she would like to be using that computer to pound the CFO. We tried to go into test on that account on the dinosaurputer so neither of us would care how long he swam away. Like everybody else, we can't get on...even on the account that is on at the moment. So, we are managing to play on open with slower computers just so we can keep a close eye on Polar Place and the district toon count.
Interesting note perhaps: When there are only 2 toons, there are less cogs. There were hours and hours without a single bossbot in ddl. I could run the entire streets of MM with my smaller toons looking for a cog and only encounter a few cogs. TTC seemed to have about 3-5 cogs per street. It occured to me that it was entirely possible to rid all of a playground of every single street cog there.
I can hardly wait for you all to come join me again. I'm not very optimistic about this having anything to do with Law HQ. I think it's the billing bug and is a headache to them and a downer for us. To add to the Eeyore, Puddleglum mentality I slip into sometimes, I think it could set them back on their scheduled opening since this billing thing was unexpected. They will either do the Microsoft thing and open on schedule with so many problems and things that don't work...but ....keeping to the all-powerful schedule, that our playing time will be mostly filling out bug reports. Or....they won't be able to meet their deadlines, and the billing issue will seriously set back the law hq testing time. I think they will meet their announced opening dates for hq on open. Which means much less time to test it, and like GSW, it'll come out on open still green behind the ears and harrassing everybody. Now, I'll go find a thistle patch to enjoy.
I'll keep you all posted. You'll be the first to know if there is any change in anything on test.
Lonely tester,
