Several of you have been asking about my injuries from skydiving. I went to a follow up doctor visit yesterday, which was exactly one month after I sustained the injuries.

Doctor said I'm still progressing very fast. I have another appointment in 6-8 weeks and she is confident that I should be completely or at least mostly healed by then. Smile I still have a great deal of pain by the evening, making it difficult to walk, but mornings are so much better. I can walk (slowly) without a whole lot of pain in the mornings. My doctor asks me each visit to rate the pain on a scale of 1 to 10... mornings are about a 3 on both legs and evenings are now down to about a 5 or 6 (to put it in perspective, when I had my son I broke my tailbone during childbirth and no epidural and I would put that childbirth in category 7 and the time I had my daughter with an epidural I would say a 1). When I first injured myself, my left leg was at the full 10 for pain and my right leg was at 9. My left leg rarely swells now because I favor it... the right leg bears most of my weight and has a great deal of swelling by the evening.

I will begin Physical Therapy soon. They haven't contacted me to make the appointment yet so I have no idea how often I'll have to attend that. My doctor said at this point she sees absolutely no reason I would need an MRI.

The great news is that since so many stores have added motorized wheelchairs to their locations, I'm able to do *most* of what I need to do. I still can't go to the grocery alone because I can't load all of the groceries into my car without assistance, nor can I bring all of the groceries in. But the occasional solo trip to Target or Wal Mart is completely doable. My sister came down for a visit and was kind enough to push me in a wheelchair through the mall and we even raced down the ramps (when nobody was around to run into that is). My husband is so sweet that he suggested a day at the zoo and he also pushed me around in a wheelchair. Smile I greatly miss not being able to go to the Japanese Stroll Garden or the Nature Center because I love the outdoors. My daughter begs me to take her to Silver Dollar City (an amusement park in Branson) and I have to fight back tears when I tell her I'm just not strong enough yet. I'm STILL glad I went. Smile
