Actually, his first reaction was one of I'm not apologizing for anything. That's not what I said and to apologize for it is to buy into the malarky. Nobody can actually know what he meant, but we can make an educated guess: Since he is a veteran that served in a situation very similar to this one, it seems unlikely he was slighting those who his adversaries would have you believe. On the other hand, he is reputed to have discarded his medals won...so who really knows. I guess your interpretation will be dictated by on which side of the fence you lean. There were a few points brought up here that I'd love to address...but given the audience; not one of them would be well received so I'll excercise the better part of valor. And since the thing that I found offensive was never actually said, it seems rather pointless anyway.
