I live on the west coast of Canada. I would love to hear from the Brits on this board though. When I was out there 14 years ago it was almost double what it is here now.

Ok here is a bit from a Brit.
I did post on the Gas out thread awhile ago about this because it it a subject that hits a nerve every where

The following is from the BBC news web site.
Unleaded fuel at nine-month high

The price of fuel is a concern for many motorists
The average price of a litre of unleaded petrol in the UK has risen above 96 pence for the first time since August last year.
Analysts say the price rise is largely due to the gradual rise in the price of crude oil.

This has coincided with the usual heavy demand for petrol during the American summer driving season.

Unleaded petrol cost 96.04p per litre on average, with diesel at 96.84p according to fuel analysts, Catalist.

On Thursday, Brent crude oil gained 3.3%, rising $2 (£1) to an eight-month high of $70.27 a barrel, due to fears that problems at US refineries, where output levels are already low, could constrict petrol supplies.

On Friday, Crude fell back to just above the $70 mark.

Ok we are on the metric system so here is the conversion. Gallon (US) - A Imperial capacity measure equal to 4 quarts or 3.785 liters
So 3.785 liters X £0.96 = £2.271 a gallon which equates to about $4.542

Hmmmm four and a half bucks a gallon. OUCH

Can someone check that I have got the US gallon conversion right. I thought we would be paying more
