I too have seen this for a while and kept quiet. However, here's my booklet...

Beware the rhetoric that is purported as fact. Globally, the earth appears to be getting warmer. I have taken the first step that is called admission. However, if one studies Lake Michigan, one readily sees that the indications are clear that the lake once was much deeper than at present. Remember the ice age? It was an age and not an eternity. Surely we don't think all that ice just went away one day? It happened through (Oh no, dare I say it...?) warming. Or else lots of little dwarves with hammers and picks removed it to somewhere we haven’t found.

Remember Kyoto some years ago? That conference was designed to get leaders of the world's industrial nations to sign an accord. Requirements were broad and specific. Not much news was given to the details. Mostly the world condemned the US (our President) for not signing. The billions (trillions) of dollars that would have been required would have certainly affected the greenhouse emissions. One report indicated that if all nations agreed, in 20 years, the rate would be reduced by a whopping 0.5%.

There's a lot of talk lately about greenhouse gasses and global warming. There's a lot of talk about reducing our individual "carbon footprint". There's also a lot of reputed and prominent scientists that are decrying this as a bandwagon, unfounded, and based on assumption made popular by fear. Remember fear and politics can ally themselves to create formidable impressions.

Now I don't have all the answers. But recorded history indicates cyclical changes in climate. As recently as 600 years ago there was a period where temperatures rose worldwide. In that time, mankind lived longer and better than the few centuries before and after. More rain and longer growing seasons meant increased harvests. Milder winters meant higher survival rates in otherwise bad seasons. There arae other examples, some even more recent. Want more on climatic cycles? Google "Little Ice Age" or "Medieval Warm Period". I don't think McDonald's, Ford/Chevy/Dodge/etc, or Heavy global industry was around then. Then again, neither were city sanitation, residential hot and cold running water, electricity, PC's... OK, I'm back.

Do I believe the earth is warming? Yes I do. By how much? Over what period of time? Who can say. Remember Galileo? Oh yes, he's the fellow who invented the... thermometer. let's see now, ,when was that? Somewhere around 1593, and after that records began to be made. Do I current warming spells out an unavoidable Doomsday? Not necessarily. The best anyone can do is to review facts (not fear and indoctrination), and arrive at their own conclusions. Are you passionate? Excellent! Be so. Stand for your belief and you are strong and courageous. Be diligent and teachable, and you demonstrate humility. Exercise that learning and humility and you demonstrate wisdom.

Incidentally, I drive a Chevy truck. But I insist on lighting my charcoal with sticks instead of lighter fluid. See, I can save a lump of coal.
