I'm only on test Varmint. I have a lvl 20 char, so I could help you out....IF you were on test. 
Yeah you are in the right cave for the EITC soldiers. The trial version or what they call the Limited Account allows you to go to lvl 8 notoriety and only be able to use the smallest ship (the sloop). No doll, no knife, no grenades, no staff.
