Yay Christmas traditions! Hmm....well, yeah, the popular opening the pajamas on Christmas Eve. It started when my sisters we little. Ever since then, when everyone gets their pajamas on, we have to do the "Pajama Dance." We sing, "I got my new......PAJAMAS. I got my new Pajamas!" It's really awesome. Maybe I'll show a picture of my dance one time.
We have done a home made advent calendar made out of felt. There's a Christmas tree and we stick the little felt dolls/gingerbread cookies/reindeer, etc. on each day as it gets higher and higher up the tree. The very last day has a picture of Santa on it which goes to the top of the tree. We have also done the chocolate advent calendars too. Those are awesome!
The day after Thanksgiving, my family and I put up ALL the Christmas decorations and turn on Christmas music while we do it.
On Christmas Eve or a couple days before Christmas, we look at the lights at Temple Square. If you've ever been there to see the lights there in UT, they're very pretty.
On Christmas day, we don't all scurry to open our presents. We each open one present from youngest to oldest going in order. We patiently see what everyone got, and then we keep going in that order until we're all done. It takes forever (about 2 hours), but it brings our family closer together that way. My dad videotapes each person going down stairs one at a time before the present time actually begins.
Throughout the rest of the day, we go to grandma and grandpas' houses to first have a huge lunch at one of their houses, and then to the other's to eat a big dinner. _________________ Heidi
