I've never been in the longer battle, but I have never even come close to using all my gags. Usually I have every one of my level 6s left at the end of the first battle, besides sound, of course.
People are still working out in their own minds what the best strategy for BHQ is. V2.0 cogs and their strange math throw an additional monkey-wrench in things. In general I find that almost everyone has their favorite way to play and it rarely meshes with mine (which, of course, IMO is the BEST way to play. ). I don't mind trying new strategies or playing along with one I personally think stinks (and I have no opinion on the one fog thing yet) but I really, really dislike being bossed (which is different than making suggestions!). And of course, as with any new additions to TT we already have people who "know" the ironclad way to play and think nothing of insulting the rest of the team for not going along. I have to admit that attitude doesn't make me feel very cooperative.
At least for now my toon has plenty of gag unites so running out of gags shouldn't be a problem. I hoard my level 7s but have no problem using them if needed - I get them back super fast even without invasion points. But it's true that toons in BBHQ are big enough to take some hits. We're going to run out of sound in there regardless, and LLKR is worthless, so we have to figure out new ways (sure glad I have experience playing without sound, though I don't guess my soundless would be too welcome in there ). Why do those who got to big suits faster or play with the big suits and get those battles be the ones to decide how it's gonna be? And why insult people who don't go along? (I didn't see any of these posts till now so I'm not accusing you of saying anything like that. It's all over TTC, though!) I don't see any point in tooning up every time we get hit, but whenever I say "no problem" someone ends up doing it anyway. Maybe they're worried about seeing their name mentioned later as a non-team-playing-toonup-hog, which is a little side benefit of being able to mention names.
I'm not sorry you raised the question. I would love to see civil discusison on various strategies and their pros and cons, rather than the drivel we read over at TTC. I would love to participate in the discussion, but I also have no intention of just blindly following along with what someone else has decided is best without trying it out for myself. Part of what I like about this game is figuring things out for myself, and my favorite ways are never those of the majority.
