| Amanda Tori Oinker : | So, I have read in other forums that the amount of rude toons and/or griefers on TT seem to be at an all time high lately. Since I have just begun playing again recently after a long break I really feel the opposite. I have never met so many toons that are friendly and willing to go an extra mile to help me/others. What I have noticed though is a marked increase in lack of skillful playing. Used to be it seemed that people took the time to develope gags almost fully and by a certain LP, say 103 or so, you could usually rely on a toon having maxed everything, except maybe trap or drop. Now it is not uncommon for me to run across toons in excess of 106 and up to 113 or so with up to 3 gag tracks not maxed! This blows my mind! The worst part of that to me is we have districts in which invasions run pretty much 24/7, how hard is it to max gags now? Yet these are the districts you find the most underdeveloped toons in. The actual playing of gags is sometimes almost torturous to me to watch. There is overkilling/gag wastage and underkilling/gag saving galore. Maybe I am a type A personality and need to relax a little but this bugs me!
Does anyone else notice this or am I really being picky? I'd love to hear other peoples opinions on this. |
I think definitely the number of rude and know-it-all toons is at an all time high, but it's probably just because the population has gone up. I have never had ANY patience at all with "my way or the highway" type toons, and I think there are more of those around too.
I don't understand how so many toons can have such poor gags. My first toon was that way because I didn't know any better, so maybe these are just "first" toons? Also, it's easy to get a toon up to 108 with no extra effort these days. With Z, there wasn't gardening, racing, or golf, so she sat around 104 for a long time. I don't think it's hard to max gags, but I work on it pretty hard, even though I don't care about invasions so I often do it the old fashioned way. I also don't run into a lot of rudeness. Then again as soon as I say that I have to remind myself that I play 99% with friends or alone (with one or two toons). Then I remember my reason for that (to avoid the rudeness and people who play in ways that stress me out) I do like to work gags, and I usually set goals for each toon, for instance my latest toon did not do any boss battle until he had all level 6 gags. My goals are different for each toon, usually not that high, as with Al Hoof who had the cruddiest gags in TT for the longest time (finally maxed all but tu hooray ). But my first toon, Z, took a VERY long time to max anything!
Watching my kids play really changed my mind a lot on how other toons act, too. Sure there are adult or older kids griefing or being rude, but even my older kids are not rude per se but just don't pay attention like we might want them to. They may be watching TV or fighting with a sibling or something and just pick what they think will work, heck even my hubby does that. I used to chastise them for that, but in the end they are playing THEIR game in the way that pleases them, and while I will try to teach them I will not force them. They will certainly take the consequences of going sad or being stinkied and I don't have any issues with that if it's the consequence of their actions. I won't allow them to deliberately grief anyone else but other than that it is their game and whether anyone else agrees or not, if they are having fun that's the goal of playing! So, long story short (I know, get to the point already ), I try to think of that when I see someone else playing in a way that irritates me. I always tell people who gripe that it's part of playing with randoms, you take your chances, that's why I don't normally run with randoms. But if I can imagine them as little kids who don't know better or adults who have one eye on American Idol, it seems to make it better.
So I'm not saying I am right or anyone else is wrong, but that's my 2 cents. _________________ Lady Zippy Boingenpretzel, 127, no trap, the lure is stinky, but the math is worse!, Holly 50/Baron 50/BigWig 50/MM, Shapely, sweet and pink
